An additional major business requirement was to ensure the business
was well placed to benefit from efficiency savings and the increased income
that could derive from extending the reach of the network to remote workers.
Applied IT Solutions was commissioned to provide and maintain a robust and
capable IT infrastructure for A+ that would support the needs of the business
into the future.
Taking into account A+ financial requirements, AIS chose to design
and implement an extended network infrastructure based around Microsoft Small
Business Server 2003. This would give A+ productivity enhancing server
technology whilst avoiding significant capital outlay and expensive running
costs. The solution would increase overall employee productivity through the
messaging and collaboration features of SBS 2003. The improved control of
business data, information access, sharing and communication would streamline
office processes. The internal and external security measures of SBS 2003 would
ensure client data security.
The infrastructure included a company intranet and a wide area
network for remote users, enabling outworkers to access the office network
securely wherever they connect to the public internet. The Remote Web Workplace
feature of SBS 2003 allows A+ authorised users to securely access remote access
features, personal and shared information anywhere, anytime whilst retaining
client confidentiality.
AIS maintain and monitor the networks performance and security
remotely using SBS2003 usage reports and have applied SBS 2003 back-up services
to ensure that backups are taken and moved off site.
